AR-News: (FR) Ritual slaughter needs updating, says Bardot

French actress turned animal rights activist, Brigitte Bardot, says
hundreds of thousands of animals slaughtered for the Muslim Eid al-Adha
festival each year should be dazed before being killed.

Bardot told Dalil Boubakeur, head of the French Council of the Muslim
Faith (CFCM), Muslims should use "electronarcosis", an electric process
which dazed animals before slaughter.

"In Abraham's times, electronarcosis did not exist," she said. "You have
to adapt to scientific progress."

Muslims slaughtered the animals during the Eid al-Adha festival or Feast
of Sacrifice, which took place this month and which commemorates Abraham's
readiness to sacrifice his son at God's command.
