However, critics claim that camps like these are not just about philanthropy.
In a region hit by drought, it's the best business proposition on offer.
"If there are ten thousand animals, they will bloat the numbers in the
government record books to twelve thousand. The fodder supplied is also much less
that the prescribed norm," said Hameed Inamdar, journalist.
Clearly there is money to be made even out of human misery, even if it is
from starving cattle and their hapless owners.
