AR-News: (US OR) Letters: Pet overpopulation a death sentence

Please get your pets spayed or neutered. If you allow your cat to have 
kittens, you're killing animals. The Heartland Humane Society is overloaded with 
cats from people who have dumped them there to sit in cages, hoping for adoption. 
Many will have to die, however, because there aren't enough homes out there 
and because tons of people don't fix their pets.

Do you want to hear local horror stories of animal suffering and abuse? I 
know too many. Most incidents are a direct result of overpopulation caused by 
those who do not fix their pets. 
Kitten season is almost here. Then, thousands of kittens that people think 
are cute will end up abandoned, then killed for lack of homes. Dead kittens are 
not cute. More healthy adult animals will die for lack of homes, too.

Dumping kittens or pregnant adult cats off in the country onto someone else 
isn't nice, either. In fact, it is despicable behavior! Those cats, for the 
most part, end up dead also.
