AR-News: (US-ny) Mauling Dog May Go Back Home

The dog that mauled a 3-year-old girl Friday could be returned to the
Bronx family in as little as two weeks, pending evaluations and provided
the family still wants the animal, officials said Saturday.

Pepper — the boxer who attacked Makailah Barnett and her 4-year-old
sister, Isinay — Saturday was at the Animal Care and Control Center in
Manhattan, officials said.

Ed Boks, executive director at the center, said the dog, which was
tranquilized for about two hours after the attack, was healthy and
playful. It was even licking people, he said.
