LUCKNOW: Theres something about them that touches just the right chord
in my heart, says Chavvi, a beaming 12-year-old dog who simply loves
dogs. Owner of a half-a-dozen cats, Vinitha Sachdev chuckles: Cats have
been talking to me ever since I can remember. Seems like theres hope for
our furry friends in the City of Nawabs, as compassionate denizens willing
to spare time for animals do exist.
The first-ever seminar by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(Peta) in Lucknow, gathered a conscious citizenry under one roof on
Friday. The sorry state of animals in todays world is a glaring example
of the disrespect we have for the gift called life, remarked the
coordinator Dr Subi Mann.
According to animal rights activists, studies have even proved that people
abusing animals dont just stop there, but go on to be violent towards
human beings too.
