A billboard company in London has ruffled the feathers of an animal rights
group by refusing to post its anti-chicken advertisement, says People for
the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA). Londoners are not ready to
swallow an angry-looking chicken brandishing an automatic weapon, PETA
says it was told by billboard operator Viacom Outdoor, which rejected the ads.
London was the first Ontario city PETA approached with the ad, which also
will appear in cities such as Victoria and Edmonton.
"We are disappointed," said PETA director Bruce Friedrich. "The billboard
focuses attention on something Canadians should care about."
