02/03/04 - The vitality of the landscape in and around Sonoma Valley has
always attracted many residents, both human and otherwise.

Understanding that people and wildlife are equally enamoured of this abundant
acreage is important to maintaining a healthy, balanced ecosystem, according
to speakers at Saturday's wildlife forum.
"The issues between people and wildlife are getting in our face more and more
because we're getting in wildlife's face more and more," said Sonoma Ecology
Center Assistant Director Caitlin Cornwall as she welcomed about 35 audience
members to the session at the Sonoma Community Center.

The panelists painted a picture of human-wildlife interactions as part of a
complex balance of nature that is constantly changing. Animals of all kinds
have always lived in this area and will continue to do so unless humans change
the landscape so radically that wildlife can no longer thrive.
