MANAMA, Bahrain (NNS) -- Seabees deployed to Bahrain teamed up with the
Bahrain Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BSPCA) to make
life a little better for local abused and abandoned animals.
The Seabees, from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 1, worked
Jan. 25-29 to replace roofs and create a drainage system for the BSPCA
sanctuary.
According to sanctuary manager Pam Smith, the BSPCA runs off of donations
and proceeds from the societys thrift shop. The sanctuary was in
desperate need of repairs, but with plans of moving and constructing a new
sanctuary, most funds must be saved for future projects, and only
emergency repairs can be made. The Seabees brought building materials, and
provided much needed labor and expertise.
