Egyptian butcher sold dog meat for Eid 

Butcher confesses to police he slaughtered three dogs, sold meat as lamb to 
earn enough money to get married. 

CAIRO - The Egyptian police arrested a butcher who allegedly sold dog meat to 
his customers who believed they were buying lamb for the Muslim holidays of 
Eid al-Adha, a government newspaper reported Tuesday. 
A veterinarian alerted the authorities and the 29-year-old butcher confessed 
to police that he slaughtered three dogs and sold the meat as lamb to earn 
enough money to get married, Al-Akhbar said, quoting police. 
He was charged with selling meat unfit for human consumption as well as 
endangering the health of his customers, it added.
