Dear Dr. Fox: 
My friend has a large dog that stays home during the day. My friend works 
long hours, so she does not get home to let the dog out until late. To compensate 
for this, she withholds water all day from the dog. When she gets home, she 
gives the dog water and he drinks the whole bowl in one gulp. Then he has to go 
to the bathroom again.
