AR-News: Oregon State College of Veterinary Medicine receives a booster shot

The pledge money will be used to implement phase two of the college's planned 
expansion. Phase two includes an additional expansion of 33,000 square feet 
to the Magruder Hall animal hospital. This additional animal hospital expansion 
will add an isolation area for animals with contagious diseases, an arena for 
lameness evaluation, a high-speed treadmill and research laboratories. 
Offices, classrooms, an imaging area and storage space will also be constructed. 
Dr. Howard Gelberg, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, said that 
expanding Magruder Hall is critical in improving the quality of the Veterinary 
College.
"The gift, coupled with other commitments, will allow us to modernize our 
large animal facilities, which are largely unchanged since Magruder Hall was 
built," Gelberg said. "The evaluation arena is particularly important, because it 
will provide indoor diagnostic space with controlled conditions. That's a 
major enhancement."
