Horse riders protesting against proposed changes to the Kosciuszko management
plan failed to present a petition with 3,000 names on it to officials at the
New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Services in Queanbeyan yesterday.
Riders from the Bush Users Group rode 140km from Tumut to Queanbeyan to
protest against changes they say will effectively lock them and other recreational
users out of traditional high country heritage areas.
The group arrived at the Queanbeyan offices of the National Parks and
Wildlife Services at about 11:00am AEDT yesterday but according to Snowy Mountains
Bush Users Group president Russell Dunn things did not go as planned.
Meanwhile, National Parks and Wildlife Services chief Tony Fleming has
dismissed a claim by the Bush Users Group that the township of Cabramurra would be
demolished within three years.
Mr Fleming says the township is held under a 75-year lease assigned to Snowy
Hydro just two years ago.

not because of those who do evil,
but because of those who look on and do nothing.",
