Mrs Liebig's tragic plight was revealed yesterday by the RSPCA which is
trying to find new homes for her two of her beloved pet dogs – Tina the chihuahua
and Mousy the yorkshire terrier.
The dogs were among a menagerie of animals kept by German-born Mrs Liebig as
companions since her husband of more than 40 years, Robert, died in 1996.
Tina and Mousy endured two weeks without food, sweltering heat and storms
after their mistress, dressed in gardening clothes, collapsed and died beneath
the clothesline of her Peter Parade home last month.
Two other dogs and a number of cockatiels were not so fortunate, dying from
dehydration and sickness.
