Wild animals well-suited for frigid weather

While we may be freezing our tails off, our furry friends in the wild are 
doing just fine. "As long as the animals were not already sick or injured, they 
will survive the cold weather," said Paula Grieef, resident naturalist at Oak 
Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre. 
Any wild bird or animal still out there is well adapted to handle this kind 
of weather, she said. 
RESOURCEFUL 
The nights are the most difficult but animals are resourceful in keeping 
warm, Grieef said. Rabbits and birds snuggle into evergreen bushes or shrubs, and 
deer hunker down beside hay bales to get away from the wind.
