The Member for South-West Coast, Denis Napthine, says it is inappropriate for
animal rights activists to attend a public meeting discussing the live export
trade in Portland.
Animal Liberation's Ralph Hahnheuser says he will try to attend the meeting,
even though his bail conditions prevent him from going within 500 metres of
the port.
Mr Hahnheuser was in court again yesterday on charges of contaminating goods
with the intent of causing economic harm and trespassing after an incident at
Portland last year.
Dr Napthine says the activists will only disrupt what will be an important
meeting.
"The meeting in Portland on February 4 is a very important meeting to discuss
the Keniry report and particularly the outrageous recommendation in the
report that the live export trade be suspended or banned from southern ports such
as Portland and Adelaide during the winter months in Australia," he said.

not because of those who do evil,
but because of those who look on and do nothing.",
