The live export industry will begin legal action immediately to stop
protesters blocking or sabotaging sheep and cattle shipments.

Financed by the Australian Farmers Fighting Fund, if successful, the civil
action would mean protestors face hefty jail terms if they continue to block
boats from loading.

Simon Ramsay from the Victorian Farmers Federation won't reveal how much
money the AFFF has put up, but he says the legal action wouldn't have proceeded
without it.

"It certainly underpinned our strategy of applying through the courts for an
injunction, and that's obviously going to be quite costly, and we wanted to be
sure we could provide the best legal counsel we could. And now we do have the
strength from the Fighting Fund to pursue every legal opportunity we can
take."
