It's the ad Reginans will never see.
Outdoor advertising companies in Regina have rejected an advertisement from
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), which graphically depicts
Kentucky Fried Chicken's Colonel Sanders about to cut the neck of one of his
birds with a butcher knife.
The ad has the tag line: "Kentucky Fried Cruelty We do chickens wrong."
The billboard ad has been rejected by 25 cities, but approved in 10 North
American cities. Toronto will be the only Canadian city to run the ad, starting
next week.
Regina advertisers -- Viacom Outdoor and Pattison Outdoor -- rejected the ad
several weeks ago. Neither could be reached for comment Monday.
Viacom and Pattison were "concerned about controversy and some of the fallout
of running an advertisement of this nature," said PETA spokesman Dan Shannon.
