Lloyd, New Paltz officials to meet
By Gabriel J. Wasserman

HIGHLAND -- Amid a battle of land dominion between Lloyd and New Paltz, a
wildlife-preservation group has arranged a meeting to discuss intermunicipal
opportunities to protect biodiversity in eastern Ulster County.
Organized by the Wildlife Conservation Society, the two-hour meeting is set
for Feb. 4 in Lloyd town hall.
It's part of a four-year research project of the Metropolitan Conservation
All-iance, a Westchester-based division of the national conservation society.
New Paltz and Lloyd have been squabbling over land-use policies for years.
They are on opposite sides of an initiative to change jurisdiction for more than
4,000 acres east of the state Thruway. Many of these acres are considered
ecologically sensitive.
