AR-News: (US-fl) Dog Beaten With Golf Club

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- "This ain't going to work," says Melvin Forrests as he
approaches his dog named Bear.

Four times a day Forrests must put ointment on Bear's bulging eye to keep
it from drying out.

Police say Forrests' next door neighbor, Lloyd Newman, beat Bear with a
golf club Saturday after the dog got loose and wandered into his yard.

"I tell you he's done lost his eye," says Forrests who was finally able to
get the Chow to sit still for the painful ritual.
