SEATTLE (Reuters) - Oregon officials Monday said they had lifted a
quarantine on a large dairy farm near Boardman, Oregon, where a single cow
had been linked to an outbreak of mad cow disease in nearby Washington
last month.

"We have released the hold order on the dairy near Boardman. The USDA has
completed its work on that dairy," said Bruce Pokarney, spokesman for the
Oregon Department of Agriculture.

USDA officials will provide further details on the mad cow case at a press
briefing scheduled for 3 p.m. EST (2000 GMT).
