By Mohammed Shafeeq, Hyderabad, Jan 25 (IANS) :
Sub-zero temperatures, snow banks and snow games are something unimaginable
in this southern Indian city, where temperatures hover between 20 and 45
degrees Celsius over the year.
But a snow theme park that will be inaugurated here Monday promises much more.
Snow World transports one to Switzerland or Gulmarg in Kashmir while
providing education, entertainment and excitement.
The park built at a cost of Rs.120 million near Hussain Sagar Lake in the
heart of the city is another landmark and is expected to boost tourism and
entertainment in the historic city, famous for its palaces and pearls.
With 17,000 square feet area covered by snow, the developers claim that it
was the biggest such facility in the world. The Snow World boasts of many firsts
in the country, including a cryozone or snow covered area, a snow view
restaurant, indoor go carting and a 4-D theatre.
"Those who cannot afford to go to Switzerland or even to Gulmarg to enjoy
snow can now do it in Hyderabad," said Thimmaiah Gupta, chairman of Ocean Park,
terming the project as unique.
