Dear Supporter of Intro. No. 380:

Thanks for all of your help thus far on Intro. No. 380, legislation to
protect tenants and companion animals. The hearing went well but we are not there
yet. The bill needs to be reintroduced in the 2004 session of the City Council
at which time it will get a new number.

In the meantime, we need to keep up the pressure.

If you have a photo of your pet and you together, or even of your pet alone,
please send it to Speaker Gifford Miller with a note asking him to support
this legislation and to take positive action to get it out of committee and
passed by the Council. (You may wish to mention that you realize the bill number
will change in the near future.) Sometimes putting a face on an issue is very
important and what's more convincing than photos of our dogs and cats?

If you do not have a photo, it is still important that Speaker Gifford Miller
and Councilwoman Madeline Provenzano, Chair of the Housing and Buildings
Committee, hear from you. Remind them of your support for this legislation and ask
that they pass it out of Committee and the Council. Also contact Councilwoman
Melinda Katz and thank her for sponsoring the bill and ask her to reintroduce
the bill now.

Here is the contact information:

Speaker Gifford Miller: Telephone: 212-788-7210; Fax: 212-788-7207;
E-mail: miller at council.nyc.ny.us

Councilwoman Madeline Provenzano: Telephone: 718-931-6060; Fax: 718-518-8443;
E-mail:  provenzano at council.nyc.ny.us

Councilwoman Melinda Katz: Telephone: 212-788-6981; Fax: 212-788-7052;
E-mail: katz at council.nyc.ny.us

All councilmembers, including Speaker Gifford Miller, may be written to at
City Hall, New York, NY 10007.

Thanks for your efforts!
