NEW YORK (AP) - The Natural Resources Defence Council will honour actor
Robert Redford and restaurateur Alice Waters for their leadership in environmental
protection at a gala in New York City on March 29.
Redford has been a member of NRDC's board of trustees for 28 years. His films
include Barefoot in the Park, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Sting
and All the President's Men. Waters, owner of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, Calif.,
is a strong advocate for farmers markets and for sound and sustainable
agriculture.
Past recipients of the Forces for Nature award include Harrison Ford, James
Taylor, Ted Turner, Jann Wenner and Ed Begley Jr.
The sixth annual event will be held at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City,
the NDRC announced last week.
