AR-News: (BE/IN) Belgium bans fur imports

Belgium is set to ban the import and trade of fur from dogs, cats and
seals. In an initial phase, clothing labels will have to state whether a
garment contains fur. Cat and dog fur usually comes from China, while seal
pelts are generally produced in Canada.

The ban has been welcomed by the animal rights organisation GAIA.  Animal
rights activists point to the cruel circumstances in which these animals
are killed, arguing that many are skinned alive, hanged or drowned.
