Horses were among three-dozen horses found starving on a breeding farm in
Shelby County, Texas two weeks ago.
The county attorney is set to decide Tuesday whether he will charge the
horses caretaker and the horses’ owners with animal cruelty.
Thirty-eight horses are rescued from a farm in east Texas. Rescue groups say
the horses are malnourished, suffering from neglect.
The horses’ caretaker leased horses from their owners from breeding. But he
says he didn’t have enough money to take care of them. About 16 of the horses
were traced to Dorothy Mason who lives in Wichita.
Mason says she couldn’t even recognize some of her own horses when she was
shown pictures of their condition.
“Some of the horses look thin and some of them are deplorable,” says Mason.
