>From AP and Daily Register reports
The goat farmer accused of slicing open a conscious mother goat giving birth
and helping burn a goat alive will take a leave of absence from his position
as head of the American Dairy Goat Association, according to a statement ADGA
officials released on Monday.
Daniel J. Considine, the president of the association, has been charged with
one count of mistreating animals causing death and another count of being a
party to the mistreatment of animals causing death on his Fort Winnebago farm.
Both counts are felonies.
ADGA's first vice president Robin Saum will act as president, but Considine
expects his legal battle to end successfully and resume his position.
He is due to make an initial appearance in Columbia County Circuit Court
Wednesday.
On Monday, Considine said he's innocent of the charges, saying his two
accusers have a grudge against him.
