State officials say 73 deer tested positive for chronic wasting disease
during the 2003 deer hunting season that ended on Jan. 3.

Of that total, 70 of the deer were located in the state's disease eradication
zones, where officials want to kill as many deer as possible to control the
spread of CWD.
