AR-News: (AU) Duck hunting season draws fire

The Victorian Government has announced a restricted duck hunting season.

It will run from March 20 for eight weeks, instead of the usual 12 weeks.

But animal rights campaigners have accused the State Government of
surrendering to the wishes of shooters and country Labor MPs by giving the
go-ahead to a duck season this year.

Coalition Against Duck Shooting's Laurie Levy says a scientific-based
recommendation from the Department of Sustainability and Environment was
to declare a moratorium.
