Tip line open, reward offered for info

The Nebraska Humane Society is starting a campaign aimed at taking a bite out
of the crime of dog fighting, which it says is rampant in Omaha.

Those arrested for using dogs to fight can be charged with a felony and now
you'll see billboards encouraging people to report the crime. Those providing
credible information could receive a cash reward. At least 28 signs will go up
across the city over the next several months. Some will be in English, others
in Spanish. "Dog fights in our community are a little bit like smoke," said
the humane society's Darcy Beck. "They start in basements, parks, they start
quickly and they dissipate just as quickly, so it's very, very hard to actually
get there, break it up, impound animals, and cite people."
