My close friend wrote this story of her own experiences with feral cats. She gave me permission to share it with you all, so here it is. - Sherrill

In spite of the idea that feral cats are a threat to wildlife, two former ferals named Yves and Smokey taught us quite differently. Rather than harming their fellow beings, they showed profound respect for others and co-existed peacefully with them.

Just one of many examples: Before Yves tamed and became a housecat, at one time he came begging for food late at night. It was odd because he had been used to eating in the morning and late afternoon only. Days went by before I observed that he did not eat the food himself, but instead walked away and watched as an apparently orphaned tiny baby opossum ate. He was actually soliciting food for his little friend. We don't believe in feeding wildlife, but continued to react to Yves' request to put food out for another animal until the baby was old enough to fend for himself.

They give us so much, they teach us so much, they ask for so little.

"In tribute to animals everywhere."
