As a state senator, Don Biggs said one of the committees on which he served
dealt with deer issues every year.

"There would be legislation to take state action to work toward some
solution," said Biggs of the deer problems, particularly in rural areas where
residents faced not only accidents but also damage to crops.
"My contention is to leave it to the professional and don't try to
micromanage it with state legislation, he said.

He felt tight hunting restrictions until six to 10 years ago has now resulted
in too many deer.
"I have a lot of confidence in wildlife and park (department)," he said.
"They started to extend the hunting season with more permits, and have worked to
control the deer population."
