AR-News: Dogfight leads to 123 arrests

The scene inside the Newton County home unsettled even the most hardened 
sheriff's deputies: More than 100 people circled around a makeshift ring smoking 
and drinking while pit bulls tore at one another in a continuous parade of dog 
fights.
A dead dog lay on one side. Another was so badly mauled it was later 
euthanized. Blood covered the walls and soaked through the old green carpet.
One hundred and twenty-three people were arrested Saturday night during a 
raid at a house on Baker Lane. The group had gathered for a night of gambling and 
dog fighting with a winner-take-all pot of $50,000, officials said.
