Ten Hunting Accidents in ND

(AP) -- The state Game and Fish Department says North Dakota has made it
through another hunting season without a fatal accident involving firearms.

Hunting education supervisor Jim Carter says the state had ten accidents
related to hunting this season, but no one was killed. He counts those
involving the accidental discharge of guns.

He says it's the third straight year without a hunting death in the state
from those kinds of accidents -- and he wants to keep that streak going.

The ten accidents are two less than the state's average.

Carter says most of them involved groups of pheasant hunters who did not see
each other. And some injuries were self-inflicted.

In one case, Carter says, a hunter was shooting at a fox and the gun
exploded in his hand. He had injuries to his face and thumb.
