Forty-seven Italian greyhounds seized from a Northeast Side home were
comfortably resting Saturday at the Humane Society of Bexar County, a spokeswoman
said.
Divided among five kennels, the dogs tend to "sleep together in piles,"
spokeswoman Cathy Rosenthal said.
Though several appeared to suffer from serious skin problems, all were
expected to survive.
City animal control workers seized the dogs and five cats Friday from a home
in a quiet neighborhood after repeated odor complaints from neighbors. Workers
found 34 dogs in plastic carriers and 13 more running loose in the Lace Wood
Street house.
