Officials: Shelter boss altered records

MOUNT HOLLY
An animal-shelter manager tried to mislead detectives investigating the fatal
mauling of a Medford woman by her newly adopted dog, authorities said
Friday.Denton Infield, 42, of Elizabeth, Union County, is charged with tampering with
evidence during the probe into the death of Valerie DeSwart, authorities said
Friday.
DeSwart, 67, was attacked and killed by a full-grown Doberman Pinscher inside
her Stokes Road home on Sept. 7, 2003. She had purchased the dog on Aug. 27
from a Newark shelter run by Associated Humane Societies.Authorities said
Infield, the shelter's manager, received a grand jury subpoena on Sept. 8 to turn
over all records about the dog.
