AR-News: (US VT) Deer die, and the state stands by

And, in terms of deep snow and cold, this winter is already looking pretty 
scary. You have to wonder how much further stress the deer herd can take. 
The question on the minds of so many Vermonters today is: Where do we go from 
here? What must be done, what can be done to get a healthy deer herd in 
Vermont? 
The people who are most concerned about the deer herd are the deer hunters. 
And, judging by the mail, e-mails and letters to the editor we’ve seen, Vermont 
deer hunters are downright angry about the current status of Vermont’s deer 
herd. 
So, what is the state doing about this crisis? Nothing. We haven’t heard of 
any major plans to change the direction of the state’s mismanagement of deer.
