[from Port Huron Times Herald]
The newscasters said animal rights activists "are calling it one of the
worst cases of abuse they've seen in years."
Ian, a black-and-white mixed terrier, was found in a pen in Inkster, his
ribs protruding, his fur falling out and his face scarred.
In Marysville, Cheryl Ferres was getting ready for work when the report
came on Detroit TV station WDIV. Normally such unpleasant news makes her
change the channel, but something about Ian grabbed her.
