Prime Minister John Howard said today he hoped the book would be thrown at
those responsible for allegedly feeding pig meat to sheep intended for the
Middle East.
An Adelaide man was yesterday charged over the contamination of feed for
the 70,000 sheep.
Police charged Ralph Hahnheusser, 40, with the contamination of goods to
cause economic loss and trespass in an out-of-sessions court hearing in
Portland, western Victoria.
Quarantine officials are refusing to issue an export licence after
shredded ham was found in one of two Portland feedlots, backing claims by
Animal Liberation activists who said they had contaminated the feed.
