AR-News: (MS) Pet parasites can cause human illness

Even though the patients veterinarians treat every day are animals, the most 
important part of a veterinarian's job is protecting human health. This is 
done in many ways, including vaccinating for infectious diseases that can infect 
both humans and pets, behavioral consultations and treating and controlling 
parasites that can directly infect both animals and humans or carry diseases 
that infect us. Diseases that affect both animals and humans are called zoonotic 
diseases.
