Animal Liberation members involved in the attempted sabotage of 70,000
sheep bound for the Middle East should face criminal charges, Victoria's
peak farming body said today.

Animal Liberation said members put rendered pig meal in the animals' water
and food systems while they were being held at a feedlot in Portland, in
Victoria's south-west overnight.

The plan aims to taint the shipment, as Muslims will not eat pigs or
related products.

Victorian Farmers Federation (VFF) livestock president Simon Ramsay said
the action of Animal Liberation members would have a negative effect on
Victoria's "already struggling" farming industry.
