AR-News: (CO) Dogs available at the Lamar animal shelter

Hours: 12 noon to 1 p.m., daily; 2 to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Friday; 12 noon 
to 6 p.m., Saturday.

Fees: $25 adoption; $30 impound w/city license; $35 impound w/o city license. 
Stella is a very long legged beauty. She is a Lab/Shepherd mix, approx. 2 
years old, female. Stella loves water and not just for drinking. Stella is black 
with a medium length coat and she is very waterproof. Stella is currently in 
foster care locally and can be seen by appointment. Contact Christy at the 
desk. 
Caz is a large Lab/Shepherd mix, all black, male, approx. 2 years old. Caz is 
all black and very gentle, a little on the thin side and in need of some TLC 
in doctoring fly bites, but well adjusted and ready to listen. 
Jed is a 2-year-old Lab mix, male. Jed has curly black hair and is mostly 
interested in drawing and keeping your attention all for himself. He has a zest 
for life and would love to be in a home with children as long as he can run and 
play, too. Jed is currently in foster care locally and can be seen by 
appointment. Contact Christy at the desk. 
Rita is a 2-year-old female, German Shepherd mix. Rita has short hair and is 
at or just below the knee. She is black and tan and happy, especially when 
there is another dog in the immediate vicinity. 
Thor is a sweet dog, male, approx. 2 years old. He is a Shepherd mix, all tan 
with slight black markings throughout. 
Tiger is a 6-8-month-old energetic Lab/Catahoula mix male. He is a great pup 
and always willing to please. Only too happy to go on a walk and just the 
right age to start listening and learning for some serious training. Tiger is 
white with a few spots of wonderful color and has beautiful bluegreen eyes. He is 
a must see dog. 
Lilac is a 6-month-old Lab mix female. She is a little shy and loves to tag 
along behind the kids. She loves the companionship of all generations but is 
partial to children and very gentle with even the youngest of children. Lilac is 
mostly tan with a black muzzle. 
Petunia is a 6-month-old Lab mix pup female and although they look totally 
different, is a sister of Lilac. Petunia is a big shy and needs lots of love. 
She also is good with children and both girls have been around other dogs. 
Petunia is black and white with very smooth hair. 
Poppy is a wonderful small to medium Shepherd/Terrier mix female, around 9 
months to 1 year old. She is light brown with beautiful white markings and a 
quiet disposition. 
October is a special month. It is Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month, sponsored by the 
ASPCA. This year's theme is "Meet Your Match," Adopt a Shelter Dog. Consider 
visiting the shelter and give the dogs a look; maybe you will "meet your 
match." Be sure that after adoption, you register for the gift basket of dog 
supplies to be given away in a drawing on Saturday, Nov. 1. 
Remember to have your pets spayed or neutered. Keep in mind that one female 
dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in six years and one female 
cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats in seven years. These are serious 
population facts from your local animal shelter.
