Activists' Home Raided by FBI

Los Angeles - At approximately 5:30pm today, the home of animal advocates
John and Amy Feldmann was raided by over 30 law enforcement officials. John
Feldmann is the lead singer for the popular California band Goldfinger. The
home was searched for over three hours.

Taken in the raid were items related to the "Fire Jerry Greenwalt" campaign.
Greenwalt, the General Manager for the Los Angeles Department of Animal
Services, has been targeted by animal activists in the past months because
of his horrific record of killing over 44,000 healthy dogs, cats, kittens
and puppies a year. In 1997, before his appointment to General Manager,
Greenwalt had previously been fired as Assistant General Manager for gross
incompetence. He has been accused of taking $69,000 out of the Trust Fund
donated by the citizens of Los Angeles intended for spay and neuter programs
and using it for his own administrative purposes. More information on the
campaign can be found at http://www.animaldefense.com/firegreenwalt.html.

According to news media, Greenwalt's home and car were vandalized early
Friday morning. The letters "ALF" were allegedly scrawled on the property,
which is usually associated with the Animal Liberation Front, an anonymous
underground organization that liberates animals and engages in economic
sabotage against animal abusers. Traditionally, these actions are "claimed"
by the ALF by contacting animal rights groups, but this has not happened. It
is unclear whether the raid of the Feldmann's home is in direct connection
to the Greenwalt vandalism, although items that were listed on the warrant
included red and black paint.

Shannon Keith, the Feldmann's lawyer, stated, "The Feldmann's have no idea
why they have been targeted, but they maintain their compassion for all
living beings. This unfortunate event only emphasizes the fact that law
enforcement continues to support the abusers, while terrorizing those with
compassion for all life. We will not stand by and let this continue to
occur."
