LIKE the fate of more than 50,000 WA sheep stranded at sea, Australia's $1
billion live export industry is in limbo.

The plight of the Cormo Express, dubbed the ship of death, has put
Australia's live export practices under the international spotlight.

Australia exported more than six million sheep in 2002 and is the largest
exporter of live animals in the world, but calls from animal rights groups
for an end to the trade are gaining support.
