AR-News: (AU) Tempers flare at sheep ship

HEATED confrontation erupted on Portland's waterfront yesterday as angry
locals yelled aggressively at animal rights activists who blocked the
berthing of the livestock carrier Al Kuwait.

When the ship tried to berth at 6am yesterday activists in three dinghies
blocked its entrance to the harbour while others in four kayaks moved into
the vessel's berth space.

"We consider what's happened here this morning to be a major victory,"
Animal Liberation executive director Mark Pearson said.
