World Dairy Expo is Sept. 30-Oct. 4

MADISON, Wis. -- With 600 companies and almost 2,000
head of dairy cattle World Dairy Expo visitors should
be able to find almost anything they want related to
dairy. 

The Expo is Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 at the Alliant Energy
Center in Madison, Wis. More than 65,000 producers and
industry enthusiasts are anticipated to attend. 

The trade show will be open Tuesday, Sept. 30. The
judging contests and the Bill Graham World Dairy
Center International Sweepstakes will be held in the
Coliseum show ring. 

The cattle show schedule remains similar to past years
except for the Supreme Champion selection, which will
be made at 5:30 p.m. Saturday following the completion
of the Holstein Show. 

Education seminars and virtual farm tours will be
offered Wednesday through Saturday with three seminars
and three farms being featured daily. 

New product developments will be featured, taste
testing will be offered and attendees will be able to
purchase the cheeses and products being showcased at a
special storefront grocery case. There will also be
opportunities to learn more about the Wisconsin
craftsmanship behind all of the products along with
the latest information on market development and
marketing strategies. 

World Dairy Expo's Dinner With the Stars will be
Wednesday, where Expo's three-star sponsors will be
honored along with the 2003 Recognition Award Winners.


Honorees include: Linda Hodorff, Dairy Woman of the
Year; Calvin Covington, Industry Person of the Year;
Peter Padfield, International Person of the Year; and
Tom Camerlo, Dairyman of the Year. 

Gregory Blaska, an Expo pioneer and leader, will be
memorialized with the creation of a new Supreme
Champion award. The Gregory Blaska Memorial Trophy
will be presented to the exhibitor of the 2003 Supreme
Champion. 

Blaska served 31 years as president of the World Dairy
Expo board of directors. Under his guidance Expo
gained prominence worldwide as the international dairy
industry meeting place. To recognize Blaska, who died
early this spring, this memorial award was created by
Expo's board of directors. World Dairy Expo is an
international trade and cattle show for dairy
producers. Last year, 70,100 visitors from 81
countries attended the show. Hours for World Dairy
Expo are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9
a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Daily admission is $6 per
person and season passes are $18.
