AR-News: (US) Charges increase in llama killing

SALISBURY -- A grand jury for Wicomico County has nearly doubled the 
number of charges against the Parsonsburg man accused of fatally stabbing 
a baby llama at the Salisbury Zoo, investigators said Friday. 

According to the Wicomico County State's Attorney's Office, Shannon Ray 
Hitchens, 24, is charged with four felonies: Aggravated cruelty to 
animals, second-degree burglary, theft of more than $500 and attempted 
theft. The charges carry penalties of up to 48 years in prison and fines 
of $56,000.
