AR-News: (US) MOURNING DOVES: Doyle won't halt dove hunt despite protests

MADISON, Wis. — Two animal rights groups have asked the governor to
halt the state's first-ever mourning dove hunt, calling it "cruel and
wasteful" to kill Wisconsin's symbol of peace.

State officials expect between 20,000 and 30,000 hunters to
participate in the 60-day dove hunt, scheduled to begin Monday. The
hunt was delayed for two years by a lawsuit brought by another animal
rights group.
