Dear AR Advocate:
Do you know of any legal cases, other than those listed below, in which a plaintiff, defendant, or judge has explicitly challenged the standard categorization of nonhuman animals as property?
Corso v. Crawford Dog and Cat Hospital (1979)
State v. LeVasseur (1980)
CEASE v. New England Aquarium (1993)
Bueckner v. Hamel (1994)
Morgan v. Kroupa (1997)
Rabideau v. City of Racine (2001)
Are any such cases underway with regard to nonhuman apes or other animals?
I need the information for a book I'm writing on speciesism. Thank you for your assistance and for everything you do to help nonhuman animals.
Joan
