>We have confirmed that the New York bill banning "canned shoots" was
>delivered to Governor Pataki's desk on Thursday, and he has ten days
>from yesterday to sign or veto the bill -- but he may act any day!
>We need you to keep your phone calls coming! The bill bans the
>trophy shooting of captive exotic mammals, such as zebras, boars,
>buffalo, and exotic sheep, on fenced property of any acreage. Please
>urge Governor Pataki to sign the canned shoot bill (A4609a and
>S2735a). Tell him canned shoots are unsporting, inhumane, and have
>nothing to do with hunting in the wild. Contact the Governor at:
>
>Phone: 518-474-8390 and 518-474-1041
>
>The phone calls are the most important, but you can also fax or email
>the Governor:
>
>Fax: 518-474-1513
>Email Form: http://www.state.ny.us/governor/form.htm
>
>If you have called already, please call again! Thank you for your help!

The purpose of the League of Humane Voters (LOHV) is to mobilize
public concern for animals through the democratic political process.
We campaign for the election of candidates for public office who will
work to enact animal rights legislation. Recognizing that animal
exploitation is a political issue and not just a moral one, we intend
to make animal rights a mainstream political issue by building
support among citizens, activists, political parties, candidates and
elected representatives.
