To Whom It May Concern,
I write regarding your company’s affiliation with the CRO Huntingdon Life
Sciences (HLS)#. Our organization reports, via a website and regular
newsletters, on a global effort to close the lab. As part of that endeavor,
activists have conducted pressure campaigns against companies with business ties to HLS- a strategy that has proved enormously successful. We are proud to include the world’s biggest companies among the campaign’s victories, including Citibank, Merrill Lynch, HSBC, and more.
Recently, a list of companies with whom HLS has conducted business between 2000 and 2003 was leaked to animal rights activists. A.C.D.S. was listed under the year 2000.
Since receiving this list, we have contacted each company to assess its current relationship to HLS. Those companies who no longer conduct business with the lab have provided us with a statement specifying that they do not currently have business ties to HLS and will not have them in the future. We have then informed campaigners of this by removing the company from our website: (http://www.shacamerica.net/CustomerCampaign.htm).
Enclosed please find fact sheets detailing horrendous cruelties repeatedly
exposed at HLS, and efforts to close the lab. If A.C.D.S. no longer has any
business affiliation with Huntingdon, and is in a position to assure us that
this will remain the case in the future, please contact us by Friday, July 25,
2003 with a statement confirming this in writing. If we do not hear from you,
we will assume your business relationship with HLS is still current.
We hope to resolve this issue amicably and accurately convey your company‘s
position to our supporters.
Thank you.
